Reimagining Education

Ranjitsinh Disale Portrait

ACCIDENTAL TEACHER

He wanted to build machines. He ended up nurturing minds.

In 2009, Ranjitsinh Disale walked into a crumbling classroom in Paritewadi — a village that had given up on school.

He didn't.

He adopted an edutainment approach and inspired girls to come to school. He designed QR-coded textbooks in their local language — opening up audio lessons, videos, stories.

That one idea sparked a literacy revolution — and won the world's $1 Million Global Teacher Prize.
